At a time when many states – each developed and growing – are more and more turning away from the neoliberal orthodoxy, in the US, in contrast, the Tea Party’s campaign towards the Export-Import Bank suggests that market fundamentalism is turning into much more deeply entrenched and politically powerful. Yet analysis of the contemporary politics of export credit score reveals that market fundamentalism – lengthy seen as a professional-enterprise motion (Blyth Citation2002) – is now truly getting used in opposition to business and undermining its materials interests. Given the centrality of export credit to their improvement strategies, the rising economies have little incentive either to hitch present governance preparations or topic themselves to new disciplines that might inhibit their future development prospects.
